When did the doctor say you can give the baby cereal and jar food? My doctor said if we wanted to give the baby a little cereal we can start at 4 months. Are you giving your baby cereal already? When will you? Why aren't you?

I've got a refluxer so I've tried cereal in a few bottles. It lessoned the reflux but he acted like this tummy hurt even more so I stopped. Maybe I'll try again with less cereal. I'll probably start at 6 months. Olivia hated solid food and the spoon so she didn't eat till 8 months, I think. I plan on making more of my own food this time. I made my own meat last time b/c the jarred stuff made me gag.

I just threw stuff in my food processor. If you don't have one, you can use a blender. All you have to do is soft cook the foods. I know some say to stay away from spices/seaonings but he's already getting flavorful stuff from your milk so I don't think it's a big deal. Olivia always loved seasoned foods. We eat low sodium most of the time so I'm not worried about that. If you cook stuff just for him, you can freeze it in ice cube trays so no food is wasted. I plan on doing pumpkin & avocado this time around.

Ok! I'm going to try this. I guess I will google different recipes. The doctor said once he learns to use a spoon he should be able to try foods. What about different fruits, I can just put them in a processor? I'm excited about being able to cook his food. I never thought about it.

My MIL got us a Baby Bullet for Christmas and we can't wait to use it!! You steam the fruits and veggies first, put them in the bullet and go. There is also a blade for milling grains into powder for cereal. We'll likely start with brown rice cereal and oatmeal first, then avocado, sweet potatoes and banana. There is a booklet that comes with the Bullet with a food calendar, you could probably check their website and see if it's there too. Very helpful to know when to start what foods (yes, no eggs, honey, strawberries or citrus for the first year).

Oh, and we'll probably start around 4 months to see if he's even interested or can use a spoon.

Four months is generally when they say you can start some cereal, although I know a lot of doctors are now recommending you wait until 6 months.
