Flu Shot?

So I went to my midwife today and at the end of my appointment she said they recommend getting the flu shot in pregnancy during these winter months. I've never gotten the flu shot and am very selective in general about vaccines...what are your thoughts? And has your doc or midwife suggested for you?

Anyone gotten it already? Any side effects?

I got my flu shot on Monday and I'm happy to report not one side effect!

yes, I will absolutely get one. I've gotten a flu shot every year and never had any side effects. My son will get one for sure and I'd like to make sure my stepdaughter gets one but I think I'll have my DH take her for that. She is Autistic so reasoning with her on WHY she needs one is a challenge and she doesn't "do" medication or shots without putting up a huge fight!

I will be getting one. I also work in healthcare and get one every year. And with the baby coming in December, I agree that it's best to protect the baby. FWIW, I got the flu when I was 8 mos pregnant with my first child and it is TERRIBLE! Do not want to go through that again.

I plan on getting one. Ever since my oldest was born I have gotten the flu at least once every year. I got it bad when pregnant with my second and ended up needing iv fluids. Two years ago I got the swine flu from my students (it was going around the high school like crazy) and ended up missing 2 weeks of work plus ended up getting pneumonia along with it. About 2 months after I got over that I ended up with the seasonal flu as well. I think since becoming a mom and a teacher my immune system has become really weak. This far into my pregnancy I don't want to risk getting the flu really bad again.

I had my flu shot about three weeks ago and my kiddos will get their shot this Friday. With an active 8 year old and 12 1/2 year old, it will be inevitable that we will be out and about through the end of my pregnancy and after baby is born. I feel good knowing that the vaccine will not only protect me but will also be passed along to our new little one. I posted earlier on this topic and mentioned that my 12 1/2 year old has asthma so bad colds/flus are really hard on her. I should point out that my DH will not be getting one b/c he is not a fan of any "optional" vaccines, etc. but he is totally fine with me and the kids getting them.

I got mine at my last appointment. I didn't have any side effects other than a little soreness in my arm for a day or so.

I've never had one before and have never had the flu. My doctor and everything I've read highly recommends getting one when pregnant. It's not so much for us as it is for the baby. Plus, our babies will be born during the height of flu season and will be unable to get a flu shot until 6 mos (when flu season would presumably be over anyways); getting the flu shot while pregnant can help their underdeveloped immune systems fight off the flu once their born.

I've never had the flu or the flu shot and I didn't plan on getting the flu shot but my doctor gave me her talk on why I shud be getting it. Saying I can be hospitalized if I get the flu while pregnant and that I may give the flu to the baby once he comes. Now DD has started school of course she's been sneezing and and DH is a police officer and he's been sneezing and coughing like crazy!! Now I don't know what to do!!

I get the flu shot every year. I work in healthcare so I want to keep myself and my patients as healthy as possible. Never had any problems and have gotten it for 6 years now.

Doc wants me to get it but... I prefer to keep my contact with needles to a minimum. Plus I'm a housewife so it's not like I work in an office all day with a bunch of people sneezing or coughing.
