At Nathan's 1st appt he was in the 75th percentile across the board for height, weight, and head. At his 2 month he was 75th for height and head and 50th for weight. Our doc said that a slowdown in weight gain is normal and we'd see where was at his 4 month. If he fell below 25th we can discuss possibly adding more formula. He said he watches how the babies are trending rather than the actual percentile.

I agree with pp. They normally just get concerned if they suddenly & consistently change what % theyre in. Say they drop & continue dropping.

our pediatrician isn't really too concerned where on the chart they fall as long as they stay along the same curve

This is what my pediatrician discussed with me as well.

My little guy was only the 5th percentile for his head measurement at birth but was up to 25% by the 2nd month. The doctor wasn't concerned because it was growing, along with the rest of his body. And

I don't really bother with growth charts, other than for amusement's sake. I did check, and Mayhem was 10% for weight at birth and <2% for length; now he's <2% for both weight and length. My doctor isn't worried about his percentile. I have a habit of making small babies, and Mayhem is doing really well otherwise; she says as long as he's doing what he ought to be, then the weight gain isn't an issue.

Our ped doesn't get concerned unless there is a drastic drop. Sean has been consistently in the 5th percentile for weight for quite a while now, and his pedi isn't worried about it. He eats and he never.stops.moving. She said as long as he is growing in height and is gaining weight, that everything is fine. And she is taking the same approach with Connor. Except Connor is not doing the same that Sean did, lol. He's actually gaining lots of weight thus far. He's becoming my little chubbers.
