So, I'm going to start washing up the babies things this weekend and am debating on just using our regular detergent or buying a free & clear type.

I have sensitive skin so we always use a free and clear detergent anyways so I'll just wash her clothes in that.

I'm just going to use whatever detergent I happen to be using on our clothes at the time, which whatever store brand I happen to be at when I remember that I need some (either Publix or Target). My DS didn't have any reaction to the detergents whatsoever, and neither DH nor I have allergies, so I'm hoping and pretty sure this little guy will be fine with what we're currently using.

My fam has used arm and hammer FOREVER because my mom and I have sensitive skin. We've always washed all the family babies' stuff in it over the years too and never had problems. :)

I would use at least a free and clear. I've honestly never understood the dreft type stuff, I know it says for sensitive skin, but think of people who are sensitive to stuff and perfumes.....that stuff is really scented! But I digress and will say I got some Purex baby stuff bc it was cheap (2.97 or something at WalMart) and I fell in love with the smell :) I'd just be careful at first and if you see baby is fine then I wouldn't worry.

I agree Jill I do not understand how Dreft can be good since it is so smelly (highly scented perhaps is a better way to phrase that! Lol). I used free and clear on all the new stuff I just bought. However I am slowly going to introduce our regular detergent. My DH and I do not have problems with sensative skin but the rest of my family does. I figure at first I will be free and clear then see if he/she is ok with regular detergent after a while.

I tried using a few different 'sensitive' type detergents with DS1 when he was little and having such trouble with his exczema, but it didn't seem to make a difference, so since then I've just been using Tide.

I use Dreft on all the newborn and baby clothing and bedding until they are about 2 and then switch to our detergeant which is the Kirkland brand free and clear fragrant free detergeant.
