I don't know how it works for everyone else, but for my job if you have the time you can use it. If you don't have the time you can still use it but you just won't get paid. I'm having all theeee above pain and pressure because his head is so low. When is ur due date?

We take disability here(ca at my company), so you get 1 month before the due date(this time does not affect the post delivery time), and 8 weeks from the c-section date, then 6 weeks of paid family leave. I am due december 31. Some times it seems so soon and then other times it seems like its gonna be forever before we get to meet the little guy:) lol

The only issue with the leave is that for FMLA in the US you get 12 weeks. If you go out 2 weeks before baby then you only get 10 after baby. If you can, I'd save the time for after baby is born. Just a few weeks makes a different in how they sleep (and thus how well you will too).

Hmmmm.... I am trying to remember how it worked at my co. Hubby made me quit in August bc my boss had me lifting furniture! I believe, like Jayla mentioned, it was if you have the time you can take it. I think maternity leave started when you asked to start it but then once your 12 weeks was up, it was up, even if you'd started leave 10 weeks ahead of the birth.

Hi Crystal,

My due date is also 12/31:). My understanding is that here in CA you get disability 4 weeks before your due date and 6 weeks after for vaginal delivery or 8 weeks for c-section. After that you get 6 weeks paid FMLA. I think if you work until 12/2 you should be financially covered. Just my 2 cents:)
