I had an hour consultaion and a two hours breast feeding class just to help with my final decision. So I'm def going to breastfeed. My situation is I only want to pump and feed the baby from a bottle, I don't want to do the whole baby and breast thing. It may sound weird but I don't feel comfortable right now with doing that. Now the nurse suggested that I atleast breast feed for three weeks then pump. If all goes well, I will pump up until he starts on baby food and focused on other things. Being a police officer on patrol in a busy area..whoooa... I can't imagine how the pumping is going to work once back.

Absolutely. I bf'ed both of mine until 12 months then weaned. Chloe was done at about 13 months, Oliver took a little longer and was completely done at about 15 months. I luckily had no issues with either one and found it to be fairly easy. I'm really looking forward to nursing this little one, although it does almost become a chore being the sole food provider for a while, but is so worth it. I just think it's one of those amazing things we can do! I will do this same and nurse until 12 months and begin weaning/switching over to cow milk. I hope things go as easy this time since I kind of feel like a pro at this point :)

I plan to bf. My only worry/concern is lack of support. Dh and I are the only two who seem comfortable with it, everybody else around is - not so much. Hopefully just the two of us will be enough!

It is so odd to me that so many of you so far have no support.

I want to breast feed, but I'm very skeptical that it will work out. Pumping at my job will basically be impossible. After I get back we have the first conference. That means I will be able to pump at 8:45 and then not again until 3:30. I have to eat with my kids because we do not have cafeteria monitors anymore. This plan doesn't seem likely to work out. lol

I will for first three weeks then pump. I'll start backing off it at 3 mos and introduce formula, hopefully transitioned to formula by 6 mos. I know it's not a very "mom" thought but breastfeeding kinda squicks me out a bit. :(
