During the day you went into labor with your first child. Any good stories from any other births add them to.

Once Jan 29 06 hit, I was already over my due date by a few days. I was suppose to get induced the next day. What I remember the most is...

Getting sooo mad at DH because he wasn't cooking my breakfast fast enough lol til this day I tell him its his fault I went into labor because right after that, I thought I peeed on myself. DH got mad at me and stormed off to work without knowing my water broke!

And another thing I remember is....

My sister at the time lived in Michigan with her husband who is a pastor. He called and was praying for me on speaker phone. He started right once a contraction hit!! Whoooooa I was like the girl from the EXORCIST! Even though he was trying to help, he got a little piece of my mind during that contraction lol

She was also breech but the lack of fluid was the main reason. I've always assumed that she measured small on the u/s due to lack of water for a good image. I don't know since I'm not sure how those machines work. They didn't find anything wrong with my placenta and it must have been a slow leak that was absorbed by my body because I never noticed any extra wetness in my undies.

So was the c/s due to lack of water or the baby possibly being small due to lack of water?

Great topic! I love hearing everyone's stories!

I had an emergency c/s almost 4 weeks early so I've never experienced labor. However, I do have an interesting story. (IMO, anyway-lol.)

My husband is a surplus military gun hoarder...I mean collector...and we were at the shooting range so he could try out some new old rifle. We'd just been there the day before and I sat around bored like normal. However, that day, it was different because every time he pulled the trigger, Olivia would jerk so hard that stomach moved like never before. After we left, I really paid attention to how much she moved and it seemed to be less and less. I didn't call the OB because I had an appt the next day and I was supposed to get a NST. The results weren't good so they sent me to the hospital for a u/s and told us to come right back to the office. The u/s showed that I had very little water left and that our baby seemed to be small. We were told that I had to have a c/s right away and our baby might need to stay in the NICU for a little while. They sent me home to pack because I have a latex allergy so they wanted me to be the 1st c/s of the day. I was on eggshells till she came and, to all our surprise, out popped a 6 lb 15 oz baby. All she needed was some oxygen and I’ve heard that’s pretty common for c/s babies. She acted like a preemie despite her good size though!

I did a LOT of running around that day!
I woke at 5:30am as usual to get ready for work. I remember putting on my make-up and and thinking, "hmmm, those feel like contractions". I'd had a lot of Braxton Hicks but these contractions were definitely different.
I dropped off my stepson at kindergarten, drove to work and told my boss, "I think I might be starting contractions". LOL They laughed because I'd already had a few false alarms. I had a doctor's appt that morning, so I cleared my desk, told them at work that I'd call if I wasn't coming back and went to my appt. My doctor confirmed that I was starting to dilate.
I had an appt that afternoon at the main hospital for a kick-count test & exam but was started to feel more uncomfortable and like I shouldn't be driving. So I drove to pick up my mom, she drove us to pick up my stepson early from school (I recall walking around on the playground while he said goodbye to all his friends and told them his little brother was going to be born and I was contracting the entire time and I just wanted to shout, "Enough already!! Get in the car!!" LOL).
My mom drove us all together to the main hospital, I had my exam and the doctor there confirmed, yes I was dilated a bit more but it wasn't time yet. He told me to go home, try to rest and come back when contractions were closer together.
So my mom drove us all home (we were living with my parents at the time) and I laid on the sofa trying to rest until my husband at the time came home. He came in the door from work and I said, "Let's go!" and we headed back to the hospital!
By that time it was about 6pm and I was so exhausted already from all that go-go-go!!

U know what, I felt that way when I was 5 weeks prego. I went to the er for spotting and called dh while he was working. I felt like all eyes were on me because he was walking around in a uniform.. gun badge and all! Imma make sure I pack a bag for him and put it in my trunk just because of that!

haha, oh yeah, my dh was called from work and he works for the sheriffs dept :/ I remember I had JUST watched "I'm pregnant and in jail" and I was TERRIFIED that my husband standing there in a cop uniform would make everyone think I was in jail... I must have said it 50 times to every single person who came in my room "that's my husband, I'm not in jail" I finally asked if I could get a "daddy" sign to hang around his neck ;) I never did get one...

Lol did ur dh want to look cute for you the baby or the nurses??? Atleast he was clean and smelling good. My DH was 18 and working at Quiznos Subs when I went into labor. So I was at the hospital in labor and hungry, he come in smelling like a turkey club lol

I hope I go into labor at home while DH is there. I hope he won't be at work because he's also a police, so if he's on a serious call he may not answer the phone right away. But I told him if he don't answer when I call three times, I'm calling his front desk at work YELLING! Lol so now he always answer right away when I call.

Too funny! Love these stories!

My water broke early in the morning. Dd was about 3 weeks early so I hadn't packed anything yet, etc. I was running around trying to get things organized and every time I looked at dh he had on a different shirt. I swear he must have changed clothes 6 or 7 times that morning. It was ridiculous. My sister was living with us at the time and we just kept looking at each other like...WTF? I guess it must have been nerves.

My contractions never started even though my water broke. So we were sitting in the hospital room, laughing it up, having a good time. All of a sudden the pitocin hit and I went from laughing to OMG this isn't funny in an instant. The problem was...I was the only one who realized the change. I remember literally wanting to tear someone's head off. I finally hollered at them to quit laughing or get out. lol

I was curious what the people did after I left, I "ran" out and never looked back. DK if I've even been back except maybe once since then. Anyhow I went home and got my husband and my bag and then on to the hospital. It actually worked out bc I never started contracting on my own which I thought would surely happen since it broke, but nope. I needed pitocin just to kick start them then they turned it off!
