We had almost no Winter here, this year, and so my bulbs were up out the ground a couple of inches in late February! Then they got hit by a snowstorm. So far, they seem to have survived just fine, and I think we'll have flowers super early this year.

The birds are chirping, the snow is melting, and Spring is in the air. My 4 year old is growing multicolored carrots in a super deep container, in the windowsill, and my daughter is starting moonflowers and zinnias. Sadly, my eggplant and marine heliotrope seeds got killed...left the container in a south window, and on a sunny day I was horrified to find the container hot as a cup of tea, and steaming. Baked seeds won't grow. Ah well, there's time to start again.

Anyone else planning their garden or already digging in it?

Lisa, your garden sounds like such fun!

Hope you can share a pic or two, and the chickens too! You're so right about the guano.

Here's a pic of a packet of rainbow carrot seeds. Not sure which brand I picked up on my son's request at Home Depot, but here's one, from a woman's gardening blog in Austin, TX:

Cindy, I know what you mean! Not complaining, but we are expecting either a blistering hot summer here in Maine, or else a trick, and a cold summer!

It's summer weather outside right now. Perfect for a day at the beach, from back before summers in Maine got oppressively hot as they do increasingly, now.
