Group B Strep Test

When is this test routinely done? With my first baby, I got it at 36 weeks. Today I went to the dr, expecting to get the test and maybe a cervix check, but he didn't do either (I'm almost 38 weeks). The next time I see my doc I'll be 39 weeks; will it be too late to check for Group B Strep? I think maybe he forgot about it!

Mine was done at just shy of 37 weeks. I would agree - call the OB tomorrow and remind them

yea, sounds like they forgot. I think 36 weeks is pretty typical. I had mine at 37.

Maybe he's going off the stats that if you didn't have it the first time you're VERY unlikely to have it the second. I asked my mw after having the two tests how likely in my monogamous relationship with my husband I was to get Strep A or B after 2 negative tests-she said well under 5% so I don't think I'll even do one next time.

Thanks for the replies! I did call the office, and apparently they had forgotten about it. The nurse told me that I'll get it done at the next appointment. I'm glad I called though! I was kind of worried about it.
