Well I am now thrilled! Apparently one of the doctors in the practice is out on medical leave.

From my understanding, it is a very normal practice. However, I requested a blood test for my own peace of mind.

I found out last Thursday that I was PG and I called a OB (never been to one before, I am a FTM) and the lady said that they don't have people come in until they are 10-12 weeks along! She didn't even say I needed to come in a confirm the PG with a blood test or take another urine test. Is this normal practice?? It makes me nervous that I have to wait so long to see a doctor to make sure my little one is ok. My appt. is for June 23rd!! It seems sooooo far away!!

I'm right there with ya. I'm a FTM and it turns out the OB my DH and I met with pre-conception is on medical leave and another doctor in her practice can't get me in until JUNE 14TH. Which is officially a lifetime away.

Since whoever we're going to see is going to be a new OB, we decided to see if someone else could get me in earlier and we now have an appointment next week (Wednesday, the 26th). I'll be 7 weeks. Oh, the wait is killing me!

My doctor's office doesn't see patients until 8 weeks. I go in when I'm 8w3d (next week Wednesday) and I thought that was a long time to wait. Although, I did get in last week for an ultrasound because I called with pain in my side. I wanted to be sure that there wasn't something to be concerned about (ectopic, fibroids, cysts, or something), so I did get in earlier than the 8 weeks, but I think that's just how some offices operate. It's definitely hard to wait, though. Just getting to 8 weeks is going to be hard for me. Seems like an eternity, especially when we find out so early!

I think thst pretty typical. My doc always gets me in sooner because of my M/C history, but from what I understand, its normal to have to wait that long.
