My First Appt

Back on 5/8 I had the pregnancy confirmed with my primary care but today I went to the OBGYN for the first time. I just met with a nurse, she gave me information, asked me alot of family history questions and sent me to the lab. They told me to stay off my metformin for PCOS but I've seen research saying that it helps some women keep from miscarrying so I'm thinking about atleast doing a 1/2 dose or something. It just feels right based on knowing that without out it, in the past, my testosterone doubles. Other than that I had to take the glucose thing and get blood drawn. I have an u/s for dating scheduled for the 4th and my first appointment/physical exam with the doc on the 14th. I'm hoping to not hear from them until then because that means that all the blood work was fine! It is going to be a long week until the 4th, I'm not sure I am convinced that it is really in there and okay so I want them to see it and tell me all is well.

Congratulations! I have PCOS as well and am on 1000mg of metformin. My RE has told me to stay on it until 12 weeks. So that's what I'm doing! I've heard it can really help prevent miscarriage in women with PCOS.

I have heard the same thing about Metformin but the doctor wouldn't even come talk to me about it since the appointment was with the nurse. So I was on 1000 a day but I'm going to go with 500mg a day for now. The 500 did wonders for me when I started it they just decided to bump it up a bit more but I think my PCOS will be mostly under control with 500mg. I am going to stay on it until 12 weeks and print out articles about why I should stay on it and present them to the doctor. Then I'll hear what her concerns are. Right now I'm just hoping they see that everything is fine at my u/s on the 4th!

I had a doctor put me on it...not really for PCOS, I'm overweight and I think he just assumed I needed it. I switched doctors, both fertility specialists, and the new kept me on it bc I was already on it. Anyway,I got pregnant and stayed on it through the entire pregnancy!! I'm not on it now bc they checked my hormones and decided I didn't need it this time.
Anyway, I took my whole first pregnancy and my daughter is healthy. She came 3 weeks early and was tiny but healthy and I don't know if the met had anything to do with that.
