So, I posted below about being sick all weekend and now have a diagnosis of bronchits. My shower is on Saturday and I'm worried I won't be able to make it. I know the important thing is getting better, but I just feel bad since my mom's gone to so much trouble.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be well by then : )

i would hope you would feel much better than you do now. Getting antibiotics or anything else to get better or is it viral?

My primary and OB were not in agreeance as to using antibiotics...basically my primary wants me to wait it out until Wednesday and if I'm not better, he'll call something in. The OB thinks he should have put me on something now. I'm going to compromise and call by tomorrow afternoon if I don't feel better.

YOU NEED ANTIBIOTICS! Bronchitis won't go away by itself (I've had it MANY, too many, times in my life). As long as you have antibiotics for 48 hrs, you're not contagious. I'm sure you'll still be coughing and not feeling 100% by Saturday, as bronchitis takes a while to get over fully, but I'm sure you'll be well enough to have your shower and enjoy it to the fullest! I don't know what your dr's problem is...err! :(

LOL...I really need to give you his phone number and you can yell at him for me : )

Honestly, I do feel a bit better today, but I'm still going to call to have him give me something. He did tell me that if anything starts coming up, to call and he'd put me on something. My coughs still aren't "productive" and I don't like to lie, but I'm going to tell him that so I can get this under control. Not only do I want to be better by Saturday, but the end of the year is the WORST time to get sick. Too much testing and other stuff going on at school : (

I will tell you my primary dr (who btw is a pulmonary specialist) wouldn't treat me knowing i was pregnant. Actually it was his office staff who said to contact OB's office and that's what i did (they may have just wanted an excuse not to do more work). They gave me antibiotics thankfully (i was sick for a week and wasn't getting better- it was worse or the same with nasty colored mucus). Zpac they gave me and told me i could take mucinex, theraflu, robitussen etc.

Thanks, I just called his office and told them my OB would be more comfortable with me being on one and that the head nurse from the OB's office said my primary could call her if he had a problem with it. I'm waiting to hear back from him to see if he'll listen. At this point, if he doesn't, I'm just going to have my mom drop me off at the ER. That way, I can just have them talk to my OB directly and they always seem to listen a little better down there anyway. Too bad it means a $25 co-pay instead of a $5 one...but I guess beggers can't be choosers.

I'm glad you're starting to feel a bit better today but I know it won't just go away. Dr's can be so ridiculous at times...I mean they know pg women get sick, so not to touch them w/ a 10 ft. poll is just irresponsible, if you ask me. I hope you don't have to resort to going back to the ER...KUP!

Primary flat out refused antibiotic...said I don't have anything to warrant one and it's probably viral so antibiotic won't help anyway. I do know I saw online that bronchitis can be both viral and bacterial, so I called the OB back to see what they though. Still waiting to hear back from THEM.

How does he know it's viral vs. bacterial? Just curious.

Oh, of course, he doesn't. I just meant that I did read that there were two kinds. I'm just sick of the run around between the two offices. I called the OB at 10:15 and still haven't heard anything. I just have to wait until about 4:30 when my mom picks up my kids for supper before I can go to ER.

I mean, one would think the primary would have done blood work or something to determine it was viral, but no. He just must be a genious. Seriously thinking about changing primaries...I just have to find another one that I like.
