My mom is finishing up chemo therapy and is going to be starting radiation therapy in january for 5 weeks. I have read a little bit andit seems ok ifits localized. I have read that pregnant women and children should not be around people undergoing some forms of radiation. Just wondering if anyone knows much about this. Thanks it will be a long 5 weeks if we can not see her!

Will she have radioactive implants ("brachytherapy" or "seeds") or will she be getting external radiation? If she's getting implants, you probably want to keep your distance (a few feet) - although a quick hug here & there is probably fine. With external therapy there shouldn't be a worry. To be safe, have your mom ask her doctor.

It must be stressful to have your mom going through this... best wishes to both of you.
