Closely spaced siblings and high chairs?

My first DS will be 20 months when this one is born and will still be using a high chair. I'm pretty sure I didn't start DS in his high chair until about 6-8 months so I probably won't put this baby in one until then either. I was just wondering how long I can expect DS1 to use his; will he be out of it by 20-28 months or will I need to buy a second one for DS2?

What are you other ladies doing? What do you recommend?

My DD's were 13 months apart and I never had a problem...we ended up getting one of those booster chairs to strap to a kitchen chair and my older DD sat in that until she was ready to just use a regular chair.

My older 2 were close in age and I didn't have a problem with it either.

My DS was 17 months when DD was born, so I know what you mean. What we did was to buy one of those high chair booster seats that attach to the chair. It had a tray so that it was just like a regular high chair, but you could take that off and pull it right up to the table. We liked it so much that we didn't even use a high chair for DD, we just bought another one of those...such a space saver! I plan on using it again for this baby because our kitchen is very small and I need to save space wherever I can.

Oh, and I know the booster seats seem sort of hard and uncomfortable because they don't have a cushion, but we did get one for DD that had a cushion if you wanted something like that. I believe Fisher Price made both of them.

Thank you all so much! I never even thought of a booster seat for some reason. That would be perfect for DS1 though because he's starting to get to where he wants to big a "big boy". Now off to do some research on which to get! Thanks again!

We switched dd to a booster seat when she was around 18-20 months. She did really well with the transition and she loves being at the table with everyone else. I probably could have switched her earlier than that.
