I take an omega 3 supplement anyway because its really good for you for a variety of reasons - heart health, memory health. The truth is we (Americans in general) do not eat enough foods that are rich in fatty Omega 3 acids like nuts, fish, and avocados.

There have been a lot of articles that link dha to cognitive development in infants. It can't hurt and we are talking about their brains - so I'm going to give me kids the best!

Plus I read an article ( can't find it now of course!) that one of the reasons behind "pregnancy brain" is that the baby saps it right out of you - much like they will leach the calcium from your bones if you don't eat enough calcium rich foods .

Thenprescription and formula DHA's are nothing like a good omega 3 natural supplement. The synthetic prescription kind have given a lot of people and babies bad reactions. Just a heads up!

Wait... I was never told to take a supplement while breastfeeding! I mean, I naturally did because I always take one... but it wasn't DHA specific. Strange.
