Are there any girls out there who tested postive for Group B Strep during a pregnancy that tested negative for a subsequent pregnancy?

I was positive for Group B strep the first time and not the second. Hoping I'm negative this time as well, but this time I'm having a scheduled C-Section, so I don't even know how that would work if I was positive? Do you have to be given antibiotics for a CS??

Guess I answered your question with a question, but just wanted to say that yes, you can be negative the second time. : )

I have never had it with my other two pregnancies but I already tested positive this time around.

I know way more about GBS than I should because I had to research it because I tested positive and the docs wanted to put me on penicillin on (which I was allergic to but could not convince the doctors that I was). I won't get into that drama, but here is the nutshell... okay as small a nutshell as I can manage:

The peanutshell:

yes, you can be negative in subsequent pregnancies. I was positive with my first. Positive for my second (but I only knew because

For C-section: They should still test you prior to your planned procedure, because if you go into labor or have leakage before the procedure, the baby is at risk.

Thanks, River! Hoping I'm negative this time around as well. Although, there is teeny part of me that actually didn't mind it the first time around. I know that sounds nuts, but I was such a worry wart about WHEN to go to the hospital, that I didn't mind the fact that I HAD to go as soon as my water broke or I had regular contractions. I would have gone nuts if I had to play the guessing game!

I completely understand where you are coming from with wanting that extra day in the hospital. As much as I am NOT looking forward to another CS this time around, I don't mind the little bit of extra time in the hospital to really bond with the baby and adjust to everything. Although, I am going to see if I can stay 3 days instead of 4 this time. That last day was just a little too much last time!

My sister tested positive for GBS with her first pregnancy, but then tested negative with her second and third pregnancies. FX that you get a negative this time around!!!
