Hi Kate, i have GERD so i have to take prevacid (only one you can take in preg- class B) and i take zantac as needed (PRN). My sister is a pharmacist too and she said its fine. Zantac is Preg class A

My drs office gave me a list of OTC meds that are ok to take when preggo, and for heartburn they list: Maalox, Mylanta, Amphojel, Tums, Rolaids, Pepcid, Zantac and Prilosec. My sheet only says to take as directed, so thats all I can tell you.

i am surprised that the dr gave you list with prilosec because my sister who's a pharmacist said they won't dispense prilosec/omeprazole to pregnant women and the internet said the main ingredient "omeprazole" has caused malfornations in a few case studies.when i became pregnant, i was on prilosec generic and got off and started prevacid due to it being safer. i would watch out for the prilosec if you're not on a prescription already. the prevacid seems to be less likely to cause problems in fetuses based on case studies etc.

well i take prevacid and zantac daily so i wouldn't worry about taking zantac or something here and there or even daily. its fine for pregnant women. you want to take class A and Class B drugs.
