Hi, new here!

Hello All,

I've just found out that I'm expecting around June 2, 2010. I'm excited and nervous, and scared all at the same time. I'm an older momma at age 39...I already have a 11-year-old daughter from my first marriage. It has been a WHILE since I've done this.

I'm most worried because they say at my age that the chances of M/C (18-20%)and birth defects are higher. I have to say though that there must have been a reason for this to happen, it was a real surprise to me! I didn't think that it would be very easy to get preg at my age....I was WRONG!

My symptoms so far are heartburn, stomach upset, some very sight nausea (maybe from vitamins?), gasiness, (sorry!) frequent urination, I can smell EVERYTHING, and sore breasts (although they aren't as sore this week?---wonder if I should worry?) Oh, my appetite is crazy! When it's time to eat I think that I can eat a table full! LOL.

So, right now I'm trying not to be too anxious and remind myself that there's like an 80% chance that everything is just fine. I haven't had my first Dr. appointment yet, but will on the 11th...when I'm a little over 6 weeks, almost 7. So if you are of the praying kind, please say a little one for me! I will look forward to knowing all of you here!

Hi Kate!

Congratulations on your BFP!

Those symptoms are a good sign that everything's ok! I can totally relate to the huge appetite-and as far as sore breasts, I've found that mine aren't as bad this week either (I'm still bfing so I'm very grateful for this!) I don't know if this will help but my mom had 3 of her 5 kids when she was over 36, and never miscarried..

Welcome & congratulations!

I'm older than you at 43. I had babies at 39 & 41 and both little boys are great.

My breasts are not tender either and it makes me a touch nervous. I am still nursing my 2.5yos... and I can't recall when I got tender before.

I am exhausted and falling asleep by 9PM. And frequent urination... but that is about it... I know though that nausea usually hits me between 6 & 7 wks.

Hi Kate and Congrats! Don't worry, it will all come back to you. I had a 6 year gap between #1 and #2 and it was sort of new but familiar. I was amazed at how the "rules" had changed... solids, carseats, ect in just 6 years. That was the only big shock for us. Prayers that you have a nice healthy sticky bean and that your first appointment goes well.

Hi Kate,
Welcome to the board & congrats on the little bean! My first was a surprise, too. I know how anxious it can make you. PT that everything goes well.
