Congrats on choosing a name that you are both very happy with. Don't worry about what relatives will say, it's your decision to make not theirs.

We are naming our girl Jenna Rose. Nobody in either family has those names which was important to me. We've already let family and friends and facebook know the name. I haven't heard any complaints yet. Not sure how the in-laws feel about the name (not that I really care).

I like the name you picked out. It's different.

Our DS will be Robert Allen Bruce. All of which are family names. We've already told everyone what his name will be.

I like all the names, but even if I hated them all it doesnt matter becuase it has absolutely nothing to do with me or anyone else, so please ladies dont let anyone sway you on your chosen names.
AFM we are naming our little man Wyatt Norman, Wyatt we love and Norman after my favorite brother(but if you ask one of my three other brothers its after my grandpa). We told people our name choices as soon as we had them picked out a girl would have been Emma Jane(Jane after my sister).

all very exciting isn't it ladies?!
I'm still nervous to announce it publicly...one of my downfalls is I care far too much about what people think, and I let my feelings get hurt far too easily....it's my husband's family that are really annoying, but they like 6000 miles away so I really don't know why I keep letting them get to me so much....their annoying little facebook comments sometimes make me want to throttle them LOL!
Oh well!

I love that name! Its really cute and different. I also love the meaning behind it, it will be a great story to tell him when he gets older.

As for us we are naming our little girl Madison Joyce. Madison is pretty much the only name we both love and not just like and Joyce is my grandmothers name. We both knew from the start we wanted to honor my grandmother, she has been there for us even when no one thought we would make it. (long story).

I love reading about everyones names!

I would agree that Alyssa Jane is too similar to Alexa Jane and might cause problems in the family, and confusion for the two girls whenever they are together.

I pretty much don't care what the in-laws think about my kids' names, although I did rule out names that were popular on DH's side of the family because MIL would always point out that good old so and so had the same name. Not for nothing, I don't know good old so and so, and I don't want my kid to always have to hear about it or be compared to that person. So my rule for naming my kids was that it had to be a name that nobody else in our families had.
