So at my last appointment they ask us if we wanted to get CVS testing done.

My doctor went over all the testing options with us, mainly due to my age (I'll be 35 when baby is born).

I really don't want to do a CVS or amnio unless it's really necessary. My doctor starts with the quad blood work and then does an NT scan if the blood work shows something worth checking out. My DS doesn't have any problems and there aren't any genetic issues on my side or DH's. If the quad leads to a NT scan and the NT scan shows something worth doing more testing, we'll consider it then. I'd like to be prepared for out little one as much as possible, but I won't do it without a good reason.

It's similar to an amnio, where they stick a needle in there. With the CVS, they usually enter through the cervix and they take a small piece of the placenta for testing.

Witht he amnio, they go through the stomach into the uterus. They take some of the amniotic fluid to test the "dead skin cells" from the baby.
