Hey ladies! I'm wondering if it's okay to get my hair hi-lighted while still in the first trimester. At one point in time I heard no, but was pregnant with my first 4 years ago and things have changed since then. TIA!

From what I've heard recently, it's okay as long as you are in a well-ventilated area and they don't get any of the hair color on your scalp.

According to my OB's website:

"Permanents and coloring are not felt to be harmful and may be done any time in pregnancy"

Just as PP, it's my understanding that they've determined it perfectly safe at any point in pg.

The ladies on here are correct; as long as you're in a well ventelated area you should be fine. I recently had hilights done (about 3 days before I found out I was pg) and I was worried at first but after I spoke with my midwife I was very reassured.

I actually got my hair done a couple weeks ago (foil) and my friend was doing my hair and she already knew that I was pregnant but she happened to reveal to me that day that she was also pregnant. Anyhow, we were talking about it and she said she had been researching it and felt that it was safe (especially because with foils the chemicals don't touch your scalp) and she said she would feel comfortable getting her hair done in the same way as I was. So that was good enough for me! But I had looked it up as well, and I definitely think foils are ok. :)
