Is anyone getting a 4D ultrasound? When I went in for my 20 wk one they gave me a certificate for a free one! I am excited about that so I know I get at least 2 more u/s because I get the 4D at 28-30 wks and the other closer to delivery to make sure my placenta moved up.

I didn't have a 4 D with my son, they weren't as popular as they are now.

Nope, none for me. I've heard mixed reviews on the safety of them and all of my docs have advised against it. Just make sure that wherever you go is FDA approved and you'll be fine. It would be so incredibly neat to have one done, though. :-)

I didn't get one with my 1st because money was SOO tight for us then. We're doing better now so I'm hoping I can convince DH to do one this time around. I'd love to get a DVD of it to have for the future, but I'm also a little sad I won't have one for my 1st.

Yes! I had one 2 1/2 years ago when I was pregnant for DD, my in-laws have wanted to have one for all of their grandchildren so they have offered to pay (this will be their 4th grand child, our 2nd baby). It was super cool! And really neat to compare the 3D pics to the baby after the baby is born. I'm really looking forward to doing it again.

Hi! Yes we had a 4D for DS1 and for this little one.

They are amazing. Very costly where I live, but totally worthwhile. When DS was born he looked so similar to his 20 week facial pic.

We just had DS2's done last Monday and it was a very touching experience to see our little baby so clearly on the screen!

Enjoy! B

I personally don't like them. They make the baby look creepy like some blob monster. My OB does them at the 20 week ultrasound. I got it last time and was not pleased with the outcome. Then they did it again this time and it was still just as creepy. I think if we have another baby we will forgo the 4D.

I had a 3D ultrasound with my 8 year old son, and it was covered by insurance back then, but I don't know this time if i will get another one. I hope so, I knew exactly what he would look like. It was very clear. I hope i get another one to confirm the sex of the baby since the ultrasound tech at my 19 week appt said she couldn't tell at first then said it was a girl. I just hope i don't have to pay out of pocket for it, they are pricey & one place in my area charges 420 for 4D.
