I wouldnt call it the best advice, but the most fun to read, and the most real was vicki Iovine's girlfriends guide to surviving the first year of motherhood. Also advice I always tell new moms becuase it was never told to me and sometimes things just dont occur to you is that if your baby blows out of the diaper more than once a day, usually its the size of the diaper, if its a leg blowout, its too big, and if its a back blowout, its too small. We went through alot of clothes before we realized my dd was big enough for the next size up of diapers... DUR!
Mine came from my son's expecting club here on IV. I would have been sooo lost without those girls! I was the first of my friends to have a baby, so my IRL friends were absolutely no help... Particularly when they thought it was a good idea to call me from a bar at 11:00 pm when I had a 3 week old newborn at home. OMG!
My best advice is just to take it all in stride. I think a lot of new moms get completely overwhelmed, and I really think the baby can sense that. Be flexible, be willing to take advice and help from others, and don't sweat it - that first year goes so fast. Every new stage is a new little miracle, and you will miss it if you spend too much time stressing out and worrying.
My mom! When I had DS I called her about everything lol. Then by the time DD came I called her less and relied on my mommy instincts but I did/do talk to and vent to my other July 09 mommies via fb for a time of just life things:)
I'm a little jealous of those of you talking about a FB group for your iv expecting group. If mine did have one for DS, I never knew about it and never really got to know the ladies there very well. But I have to agree, I got some great advice there and would have to second just following your own instincts as well.
I have a couple real life friends who are great for advice. I see their well adjusted kids and know it is good advice. Ivillage was amazing with my sons group and we still talk on FB. I love Parents and Parenting magazines for great articles also.

Also - trust your instincts.
