I really like the name Finley for a little girl, but my cousin's little boys name is Finn so we won't be using it. We maybe see them once a year and they live in a different state. For us it just seemed a little too weird though. But if you really like the name and are comfortable with it, use it ;-)
Boy/girl twins, Ethan Neil and Gracyn Marie were born January 7, 2010!

I say go for it Erica. It's a great name and if it's something you really like, why not. There's definitely not a copyright on it ;) A lot of families have cousins or even Aunts and Uncles who share a name, it's almost like a compliment. :)

I would feel weird if one of my cousins named their child the same as one of mine...but I'm pretty close to a lot of them. I have a few on my dad's side and I don't even know their kids names, so--I guess it just depends.

I won't use a name that is in the family because I want to have something that belongs to my child only.

I think it really depends on how it is done. My DS is named after his Uncle which we did on purpose (he's a 2nd!). As far as cousin's kids.. I guess it just depends on how close you are to them. If your really not close at all, I wouldn't worry about it. My cousins are really young, but we never talk so it's not an issue anyway. If they are closer, it could just be a compliment.

I'd so go with your gut. If you really like the name, use it. And Abigail is a very pretty name :)

We just came up with the name Jaxon for a boy, and I told my mom yesterday and her reply... Wayne just named his baby Jackson - Wayne is her so's son. They had a baby in May and we're so close that I didn't even know the name! So I decided we can still use it because had she not told me, who knows how long before I found out! Plus him and his oldest sister both have a child named Hunter. Now that I would NOT do, I couldn't use the same name as my brother used.

So, I think it's fine!

I think you should use it, if its a name you have liked since you were a little girl I would.

I don't think that's weird at all.

I'd say go ahead and use the name if you like it.
