U/S weights.....

How accurate are U/S weight estimates? I was having some trouble so got and U/S last night, I'm 35weeks and she measured that but weight was 5#1oz. At my 20wk us she was in the 100% and 2-4 oz over ave so they moved up my due date. Also my first was born at 35wk 6 days and was 7#1oz!!! TIA!

"They" say that u/s weight estimates can vary 2lbs either way. I had one when DD (my first child) was 36w and she was estimated to be 7lbs at the time. But then she was born three weeks later at 7.5lbs so who knows what her real 36w weight was.

Supposedly they aren't very accurate. I have never gotten the weight before baby was born but I know that my best friend had hers done, they induced her because she was having a 10lb. + baby. So they induced her at 38 weeks, gave her a c-section without even letting her go vaginal like she had with her previous and she had a 7lbs. 2oz. baby. The weight was definitely off. From what my Drs. at the naval hospital has said about weight and measuring is that they are just estimates so they don't hold too much into them. It almost comes down to your particular tech and particular Drs. opinion.

My doctor says they're just estimates. FWIW, at my u/s the other day, 32w4d, baby was measuring 33w3d and estimated at 5 pounds. My last pregnancy, my son was born at 35w1d and was 4lb 12oz. They said that was a bit small for that gestation.

I've only ever had one late u/s, with DD I had an u/s at 37w4d and they estimated her at 6 pounds 1oz.

I had an u/s today at 36 weeks and my girl is measuring 6 pounds 9 ounces. But with my twins I had an u/s with the specialist two days before my delivery and they were off about half a pound on both babies. So, you can't put too much into the u/s weights. As long as it shows appropriate gain that is all they are really looking for.
