Congratulations! We are foster parents too and have adopted from foster care also. Are you thinking you'll foster through the state or through an agency?

I don't really know. We're gping through DHS so i think it's state. Right now we're looking for more information. DH ans i are considering fostering a littke girl DD's age because i'd attach too quickly to an infant boy. I know it will be hard in me to give them up. But i'm excited to learn more. Maybe reorganize the house or something in anticipation?

yes it would be! i'm pretty excied. To be honest, I'm hoping to foster (and possibly, eventually adopt) a little girl DD's age w/ thick brown hair and big, brown eyes. If possibly, I'd also like to foster, eventually adopt, an infant boy w/ red hair and freckles, though I'm uncertain if it'll happen quite that way.

Anyway, We're all set up for 5/14/2012 for the foster parenting meeting. DH was upset that we couldn't just get a packet of information to read over together, think about it, THEN go to an hour'hour-and-a-half meeting to find out more. Instead we go to the meeting, listen, then go home and think about it before deciding if we're going to fill out the application form.

I'm pretty excited about it, but nervous as well. I asked my great-grandparents to come over that evening and watch DD. My family tends to nag a LOT.

My great-grandparents nag me about my housekeeping, and my mom nags about the way I parent. I let DD make choices for herself. if she makes a mistake, she deals with the consequences. (Of course I'm in the background watching her all the way, ready to jump in if absolutely necessary.) the way they talk, you'd think my house had a major cockroach, mold, and housefly infestation. IDK. since my family nags me so much, I'm a bit nervous about the inevitable home study. so, any thoughts on that subject? It's weighing pretty heavy on me right now because
