Hi everyone,

My hubby and I are adopting soon I hope! We have filled out all the paperwork.. and

my daughter has been served. So all we are waiting for is the court date to be set.

*Big Grin* We have been waiting 3 years!

This is a Foster Care adoption.. what I am wanting to know is what will happen

when we get to court. We are having to drive from NC to IL. Will daughter get to

sit with us or will they remove her or make her sit with them? She is only 3 1/2 and

has never seen or even talked to these people. Anyway Just wanted to know what it would

be like. Lawyer said it would be rather quick. I am just excited that it's almost here!

Been smiling for weeks now! LOL Thanks for all help and advice.

CONGRATULATIONS on your adoption!!! we adopted twins from ohio and brought them to our home in IL, so we had the adoption finalized in Il. what happened with ours, we all got dressed up (my son had a size 2 suit on, and my daughter a velvet dress) and we went down to the Daley Center Courthouse in downtown Chicago. the kids were served at that point, and after a minimal wait, we were called into the courtroom and our attorney introduced us all to the judge. the judge talked to us and asked my dh and i if we were aware of the responsibilities that we were undertaking and then proclaimed the kids to be legally ours!!! then the clerk of courts handed the twins suckers (they were just 2 at the time) and we left the room to celebrate!!! they made it a family deal, and relatives and friends were invited inside. there are no photographing or video taping, but after the session is over, the judge will come out for photos to be taken, if you wish to wait. according to IL law, the official signing of the paperwork by the judge is not done until 35 days later, and you should get the official paperwork at that point.

good luck and let us know how it goes!!!!
