Did you get the post-adoption support you needed?

I was just reading this MSNBC article and wondering how you all felt about the level of post-adoption support you received either from your agency, the government, or through other resources?
Post-adoption blues? Many families
Post-adoption blues? Many families need more support
Report argues too many adoptive families are not receiving essential services

We got absolutely ZERO from DSS and we really needed it. Mason turned out to be Bi-ploar, ODD, ADHD and even worse. Couldn't even gdt them to give us copies of Mason's files from before he was placed with us. And they kept a lot of his known problems secret from us. Guess they figured (wrong) that we would not have adopted him if we knew. i doubt if i'll ever recommend adoption through our country to anyone!

I think this is probably a BIG issue.
When you get a minute can you email me and let me know what all you experienced? I know on the fostering board you once mentioned to ask why you no longer foster. As it is looking like we will win this case, I am starting to worry that the girls have more "issues" than what has surfaced. I am particularly worried about the 3yr old and if we adopt what services we will have. Or if that will be another battle I'll have to endure. I forgotten what State you are in ...any information you can share regarding the fostering to adopt process would be most appreciated.

Hi! We didn't have any post-adoption blues, but we received quite a bit of post-adoption support and facilitation between us and Sophia's birthmother over the last 14 months. We are now in an open adoption (we were in semi-open). Our social worker was phenomenal and will continue to be a friend and resource to us as we move forward parenting Sophia... These baordies also were my support, of course!
Best wishes to all...Tiff
Wow sounds like a really big range of support from different agencies. We weren't really offered much support, but I'd like to think that it would have been there had we needed it.
