I can't believe this! (m)

We are going to finalize Skyler's adoption this Friday!!! We just signed her adoption papers a week ago. This is so exciting. I invited all her grandparents, but with such short notice most of them probably can't go. I hadn't even considered this would happen so fast. I don't know what to do to make this a special day. I was thinking we would go to a park and have a picnic after the court date. But than what? Any suggestions?

I can't believe this is really going to happen. It was only 9 months ago that we had completly given up on this process. Now, my little one is going to be mine forever : )

One down, one to go...

Dawn - That is SO AWESOME!!! It seems like a long way off for Lacy to be 'legal' so I can just imagine how happy you must be. Some friends from my adoption class finalized last Friday too. I know it will happen but now the birth mother is showing sudden interest after months of nothing. I'm assured it will mean nothing in the long run but it's still stressful as you know. Every day Lacy feels more like mine but I want it all tied up in a bow so it's real. Anyway, congratulations, and as for celebrating that day - I prefer a family dinner at a favorite restaurant and don't forget to take LOTS of pictures!! - Susan

WOW, Dawn! What great news!!!! In one week your little girl wil be YOURS signed, sealed & delivered! What a special day! Since both girls are old enough to somewhat understand what is happening, I would either do a picnic in the park like you suggest (weather permitting) or maybe get them dressed up (if they like to do that) and go out for a "fancy" lunch or dinner as a family.

Take tons of pictures and maybe you could even give Carly & Skyler matching bracelets or something to signify they are BOTH your daughters & they are sisters now. Obviously I am not implying that the day be about presents, but since this isn't an infant adoption, Skyler might like to get something special from Mommy & Daddy that will be a keepsake forever (and knowing how kids are, I didn't want to leave Carly out with my suggestion - heehee).

C*O*N*G*R*A*T*S*!!!!! Give us a BIG holler on Friday when things are official! HUGS - Kelly (Mommy to Tucker, 18 mos old)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! What wonderful news!! I envy you that you get to go to court for this. Here in VA we just get a piece of paper in the mail saying it's finalized. Of course, I can't WAIT to get that paper. LOL!

I hope you have (or had at this point) a fantastic day!!!!
