We live in Nebraska.. Has anyone else dealt with this? My husband and I have been married for 7 years. We have a 6 year old that has mental handicap, BiPolar and Autism. Our other daughter will be 5 on Monday. She has BiPolar and ADHD. We had went through all the paperwork. They had a screan team meeting this last Monday. I got an email from our worker stating he wanted to meet with my husband and I because the team was afarid that we had our hands full with our children and they were questioning if placing an adoptive foster child with us would be in our best intrest. We have a meeting with him this next Monday. We feel we would be great parents for an adoptive foster child. We are ready willing and able to take care of another child. We have plenty of experience with special needs children. I just feel like they are axing us just because our biological children are special needs. He says most of the adoptive placements have high needs also. We are aware of that. We have told them while we do not want a very high special needs child since I think that may be too much, like a child that is wheel chair bound, require feeding tubes,

Jill,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having trouble. I don't have any advice to share from personal experience I would encourage you to go in with the stongest case that you can. Are your kids doing well right now? There are so many veriables when it comes to autism and bipolar. Do you recieve any professional and or medical help for your children that would be able to write a letter that you are capable of caring for an additional child? There are so many kids out there who need a permanate loving home and you are willing to offer that. While many children in the system have some form of issues many children are able to adjust well to a new home/family. If it doesn't work with this agency could you try with another?

Good Luck!!
