Need advice on getting my unborn baby an adoptive family

I am 27 and am absolutely certain because of my situation that adoption is the right choice for me. That being said, the birth father is uncooperative so that is making things much harder so its looking like it is going to be a battle for this to happen. People keep asking if I don't want the baby why don't I just give it to him and that is not the case I am not choosing adoption because I don't want the child, I wish with every fiber of my being that I was in a situation that I thought me keeping it would be a good choice. The birth father is not a safe person he is severely bipolar and refuses to go on meds I am terrified of him and will go to the ends of the earth to protect this child from him. I have even considered moving to Utah where I can refuse to name the father and his consent would not be necessary but I know this is a bad idea because if he contests the adoption there would be severe consequences. Anybody with any suggestions or just support would be greatly appreciated

Hi! I think Connie has given you good advice - the best place to go would be a crisis pregnancy center. If you are set on adoption you probably want to go to one that is connected to an adoption agency (usually crisis pregnancy centers have a slant either toward abortion or adoption). These places will be able to walk you through the process from a legal and psychological perspective and help answer your questions.

You might also want to check out the Unplanned Pregnancy board - several women there have been in similar situations and you may find comraderie.
