Not enough experience with children!

Hi everybody

DH and I have been approved to adopt a little boy just over 3years old.  We were

so looking forward to having him home beg of next year only to be told yesterday

by our SW that this is not going to happen now and they want to delay placement

because we do not have enough experience with children!  The little boy comes from

a very neglectful background and they want to make sure we can cope once placement

is done.  We now have to rent a child for the day!!! (we also have to volunteer at

a nursery).

Has anyone had this bad experience just before adopting and how many times did you

have to visit nurseries and looking after a toddler before your SW was satisfied?

Thank you so much.

What kind of adoption agency are you working with? Private, county, etc? We were licensed foster parents (w/o children living in the home) My husband has an older son, but he lives with his mom. When we were placed with a sibling set of 2 boys. They were 2 yrs old and 3.5 weeks old. We went through the county in which we live, did their classes, took cpr etc. I would be floored if our SW came back and said, you need more experience, before your aloud to have this child placed in the home. Our older boys were also neglected.  Is tihs a direct placement or foster/adopt?

DH and I had no children. Our only experience with children was neices and nephews as well as a stepson from a previous marriage on my part. They asked about our experience but apparently it was a non issue. We went through our county. We are now parents to a beautiful 2 year old. She was 11 months old when she was placed and her adoption was final October 18th.
