We have been on the list for 5 1/2 months and little action.

My story:  Tried for many years.   Did 1 insemination, 3 IVF, adopted our beautiful son in 2011.  Trying one last IVF cycle in April 2014

Two years from the time I filled out the paperwork, I adopted through social services, though, not a newborn. I was open to high special needs including feeding tubes so everyone kept saying that my wait should be short and it wasn't, it seemed like it took forever. I met my daughter June 1 and brought her home July 29, almost exactly two years after starting the process. I was ready to give up in April because there didn't seem to be any progress at all, I kept submitting my homestudy and not hearing anything. Then in May I inquired about a baby that my caseworker said I didn't have a chance of getting and now I'm sitting here with that beautiful baby girl asleep in my lap. I hated hearing that it would happen at the right time with the right child but it did, I can't imagine a more perfect fit than my Lydia.

Come here to vent anytime, everyone here gets it and most have been through the endless wait for a match.

I remember the frustration of waiting, and I remember rolling my eyes every time someone told me to have faith, that my baby was on the way.

But ... Have faith! Your baby is on the way!

We waited for 18 months. We had our profile shown about eight times and were chosen to meet with five of those women/couples. We said NO to about 10 other opportunities to have our profile shown because there were circumstances we weren't comfortable with.

We met our daughters birthparents on a Thursday. Our little girl was born the following Tuesday and we brought her home on Wednesday.

It sounds annoying and trite, but please believe me when I say that all of the waiting will be worth it when you hold your child in your arms! Hang in there!!

Best advice I ever received while we waited, "A watched pot never boils." Now I know that is easier said than done, but you do need to go on with your life, and it will happen for you. In our case there were 2 failed placements and our third time was the charm. In all it took us 3 years. Now I know that sounds like forever, but once

Hello! I wish you all the best in your adoption journey. It honestly, took us a total of 22 months from our portfolio/homestudy to getting our daughter Sophia. HOWEVER, our journey was a bit bumpy and I can assure you that as bad as waiting is, matching and mis-matching is way worse! We had multiple adoptions fall through before we got Sophia (long story).

The things I did while we waited were: re-do our portfolio with new pictures, paint rooms, hang with friends, work out and we planned a vacation each year even while we waited (one got cancelled for a match and one was a few weeks before we got Sophia) that way, you have something to look forward to!

Best wishes!
