I know from reading a lot of posts that 3 full meals at this age might be a lot, but I'll be honest and say I'm enjoying my baby sleeping from 8pm to 5am.

Sarah, I'm not 100% clear what your question is. Can you help my pre-caffeinated mind understand? Thanks!

Ha! No problem - because I'm not 100% what my 'question' is. I guess I just want reassurance that what I'm doing is 'right'. I feel like Hayes has changed a lot and what I'm doing is still normal. I've cut back pumping (no longer pumping at night while he sleeps). I just basically want to know how often he should be nursing and assurance that change is normal. I know that it is, but it's still hard for me to let go of what has been normal for us thus far.

Is eating three meals at this age normal?
How often should he be nursing during the day?

That's the main things!! :) Sorry!

We typically see breastfed babies moving to the third meal closer to a year but if he's still nursing every 2 hours during the day, it obviously isn't impacting his breastmilk intake. The biggest thing to keep in mind is just that breastmilk needs to be the primary source of his nutrition until at least the one year mark. It sounds like you're doing perfect, really.

Quantity of nursing varies at this point. The minimum we'd want to see them nurse at 10 months is 4 times daily. Jason was still nursing a good 8-10 times a day at that age but he was a high needs comfort nurser and did not STTN for quite a while.

Can you help me understand your pumping situation a bit better? You were pumping 30 ounces a day ABOVE what he was taking in bottles? Can you explain that in more detail? I'm floored by that if I'm understanding correctly.

30oz/week! A day would be insane! :)
I work in the evening so pumping really augmented things. Basically I kept pumping even while he slept - at 9ish. I just always wanted to make sure I had enough. But, 1000oz later I probably do :). I was very dedicated to pumping do giving that last pump up has left me very conflicted.

I appreciate your expert advice. I've been really doubting things and I think I just needed reassurance. Who knew that months ago I was complaining about how long I spent nursing and now I wonder if it's long enough!!

P.s. I'm on my phone so I'm having a hard time spell/grammar checking and I'm usually a stickler for such things!!! Sorry!
