Increasing solids is not a good idea since solids have fewer fats and calories than BM (an exception is Avocado).

Is your doctor using the newest WHO growth chart specifically for breastfed babies? The CDC recently issue a press release stating they wanted all doctors to switch from the older outdated CDC charts to the newer charts from the WHO as they realized the older charts, which were based mostly on normal formula-fed baby growth patterns, would often give misleading results when applied to breastfed babies. Some pediatricians and GP's though seem to have not gotten the message and are still using the older CDC charts. I would have a look at the link below for the new WHO growth charts and see where you baby plots on them. If she does better on the newer WHO charts then you can show that to your doctor. Even if your doctor is already using the newer charts or if she still falls off the newer chart, don't panic. It is possible for a perfectly healthy baby to fall off the chart and as others have already said, there is more to proper infant growth then just where they are on the growth charts.

It's certainly a concerning weight gain pattern but it's reassuring to me that the baby is otherwise healthy and the pediatrician has been conservative about the weight. However, I do think it's appropriate to take action.

It's normal to start solids at this age but be sure you introduce high fat, high calorie solids. It's not
