I have been breastfeeding my six month old exclusively up until recently. I am getting ready to open a preschool and because of this I thought it might be best to transition my baby over to formula even though wasn't crazy about this idea (I didn't know if I would be able to nurse or pump due to time constraints since I am starting out with no employees and it might be diffcult if not impossible

Are you aware that the average mom can pump 1-3 ounces per session (both breasts combined)? So the amount you're getting now is actually very typical, like Teresa said. Have you considered taking an herbal booster like fenugreek to help speed up the process? Here's some info: http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/milksupply/fenugreek.html.

How frequently are you nursing baby at this point? Does he seem satisfied with your supply in nursing directly? Is pump volume your only concern or are there other concerns as well?

Just for the sake of lurkers, even if you're not able to pump during work hours, it's not necessary to totally wean to formula. Many moms do nurse morning and evening and use formula during the day and are able to do this for long periods of time. Here's some info on combination feeding: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/weaning/weaning-partial.html
