Sick baby, BFing and sleep

I think I just need a bit of encouragement, I'm getting pretty exhausted and frustrated.

I had a crappy cold about 2 weeks ago and was just about to get over it when 8 month old DD decided to throw her sleeping pattern right out the window. Not sleeping didn't help, and now we're both miserable. I took her to the dr yesterday and it's just a viral infection, nothing dangerous but to be watched. I started getting the chills last night and I'm afraid I'm heading towards a flu :-(. She's pretty happy and energetic during the day but gets so clingy at night, when DH is home and could help. I'm nursing her every hour or two and would love a break but she only wants mommy at bedtime right now and for an hour or two at a time.
Is this just the illness or is her bedtime routine gone for good? Any ideas on helping me get more rest? (we can't cosleep since DH is an epileptic and must have full nights sleep) nursing lying down was never her favourite.
The other thing I notice is that her latch is shallower but it's not painful or uncomfortable. She has a very stuffy nose right now. Is a bad latch always uncomfortable or painful? Should I try to correct it?

I'll post more later, she's up

Two thoughts off the top of my head.

There are experts here but I'll jump in with some of my personal experience. My DD is in daycare and has had lots of colds (over 20). Her latch wasn't as deep because she had to breath through her mouth some too and sleep patterns were really messed up during the worst part of her colds. It usually leveled out once she got better though. It's so hard to think clearly when you're so exhausted. I hope you are both feeling much better soon and are able to get some rest!

ITA with everything the other ladies chimed in with. At this age, nothing is for good! I would just suggest powering through it and nursing her as much as possible to help her get better quickly. I hope this passes soon!

Today she just can't settle down. Doesn't want to nurse as much (trying to get her to nurse to sleep), she is exhausted and just keeps screaming. Won't cuddle, won't take binky, doesn't want to be up. I feel so crappy, and we're both crying. :-( Tylenol didn't help, and I'm about to fall down. I hate it but will try to let her cry for 15 mins so if nothing else I can lie down a few minutes. I wish I could just take her pain away :-(

I'm so sorry you're both feeling so horrible! Just try to keep both of you hydrated as much as possible. If she isn't better (at least eating better) tomorrow I might consider going back to the doctor. This is what my little girl does when she has an ear infection.

Thank you ladies so much for the encouragement and advice. I was at the end of my rope today. After three hours of fighting and more bf attempts than I can count DD finally went to sleep around 1:30 and slept till 4 when DH took her off my hands. After that she was much more her usual self and nursed to sleep around 7:30 :-). Hopefully I'll have a better night and day tomorrow, DH might book it off if I feel terrible again.
Thanks again, it's nice to know this too shall pass

Quick update: we're both still sick. It doing better. She is sleeping better since I let her sleep on me for at least ah hour before moving her. I stumbled on this by accident when I passed out in the recliner while she was nursing and kept at it and she hasn't woken up nearly as much. Yay some sleep :-)
