Ok so my DS will be a year old on 8-5 and he's been breastfed since day 1. It took a while for him to get into it but when he did he REALLY did! LOL I'm a SAHM and he's always been a comfort nurser. He sleeps with me and I've never wanted it any other way. I love having him with me all the time

I agree with Dana slow and gentle is the best approach. Since your baby is mostly bf when sleepy it might help to develop some additional bed time routines so bf isn't the only thing. You can add in reading a story and a blanket or teddy for the baby to cuddle. We used to power or lotion our boys' backs as a massage to help them settle. Do these things in addition to breastfeeding and as your baby gets more used to them being part of the routine he might be willing to accept just the teddy and story, or just the massage and teddy, etc.

Definitely enlist Dad's help. My kids would all accept Daddy putting them down when I was not home

The key to parent led weaning is just to take it SLOOOWLY. If you're looking to eliminate a specific session, can you be available to put him to sleep for naptime and DH take over? If you feel like he's really resisting, you can always go back to nursing more. Here's some more thoughts and techniques: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/weaning/weaning_techniques.html.

Good luck!
