Alcohol in BM?

I went to a wedding reception last night and had a few drinks. My daughter STTN (12 hours) and was home with Grandma, so she nursed before we left for the evening. My last drink was at 11 pm last night and I woke up this morning at 5 engorged because I didn't pump before bed last night and had missed our bedtime feeding, so I was a little more full than usual.

So, I am up now and decided to pump to relieve some of my discomfort. It has been 6 hours since my last drink. Should I dump the milk that I just pumped? Do you think the alcohol has cleared my system by now? As much as I'd hate to dump the milk (7.5 ounces), I'd rather be conservative and not risk exposing my daughter to any residual alcohol that might still be in my system. I am not worried about when she wakes up, since it will have been nearly 9 (or more) hours by that time.

No, definitely no need to discard that milk. The rule of thumb is as long as you're ok to drive, you're ok to nurse (or pump and keep the milk). If you only had a few drinks, I'm sure all the alcohol is out of your system after 6 hours.

Thank you! Happy to keep those ounces. They will end up in the freezer stash. :)
