I have breastfed my son, now almost 13 months old, and have enjoyed it greatly.

Yes-you can get pg while nursing (I was still nursing my DD when I got pg-but she was almost 3 at the time & only nursing 1 time a day). Usually they say you are only "safe" to use it as bc if you are exclusively nursing & not using anything like a pacifier & so it's usually only the 1st 6 months or so that prevent getting pg. I think the OPK is a great way to start things & just make sure that you're Oing. Good luck & just keep TTCing-good thing it's lots of fun! :)

Yes you can get pg while BF. And you can continue to BF once you are pg. I have a 46 month old that just recently weaned and also a 4 month old. :) My 3rd pregnancy was naturally conceived while I was BF, but I had fertility problems with my first 2 and had to conceive via IVF.

Has AF returned yet? How long ago? Do you practice fertility awareness? (watching fertility signs like temp and cervical fluid) Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is an EXCELLENT book

Some info on th return on fertility while BF: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/fertility.html#transition

More from LLL: http://www.llli.org/llleaderweb/LV/LVDec98Jan99p128.html

FWIW, I NEVER had luck with OPK kits to detect LH surge even when I was on fertility treatments and KNOW that I was ovulating.
