Have you tried doing breast compressions while she's nursing to keep her interested longer?

I always do compression the entire session.

I don't really have expert advice on the amounts and such.. my DD eats roughly 25 minutes long, 5-6 times a day. I give her a couple of tbl of solids roughly once a day, sometimes every other day if she's acting constipated or gassy. We're no consistent.

But lately btw teeth and just their age (8 months is peak separation anxiety) I find she just wants ME. If I walk away, she immediately cries. If I put her down to play, she'll cry initially for a few seconds until she can get involved in a toy. It's like she needs a distraction to change focus off of me.

If eating amounts and everything are norm, do you think it's just her neediness vs. a hunger? If my DD were to eat just for a few minutes, I'd think she wasn't ever really hungry, just needy.

By the way, at 8 months, you can skip the puree stage altogether. They are really for babies that are being fed solids very young. She may well be happier with something with more texture - small cooked pieces of sweet potato she can pick up and feed to herself, or lightly mashed banana or avocado - even small pieces of avocado that she can 'chew' with her gums.

Thanks ladies for your suggestions.

Teresa - I have read that about food too, but DD still has not met all the developmental milestones for starting solids, so I think I am even pushing it with the purees.
