diaper rash questions

My DD has never had a diaper rash until now. From time to time she's had a slightly red place here or there but one application of cream has taken care of it. Now she has red in several places (front & back). I've tried desitin, A&D, & Aveena but nothing is helping it. It doesn't seem to bother her but it is pretty red and has only gotten worse. Any advice? Any idea what has caused this? There are no differences in diapers, routine, changes, etc... She did start Avacados on 1-10 but can't say for sure it was the day the rash started- seems she'd had it all week. She usually has a poop every day or two but didn't have one from the 9th until the 13th when she had two big ones. She's also been quite gassy.

TIA for any help!

Thank you!
I use aquaphor all the time on her face but didn't realize I could use it for diaper rash too. I put it on her tonight so we'll see if it makes a difference!

It could also be a bacterial infection or a yeast infection.

Try using APNO on it!

Eeeek! I hope it isn't yeast! How would I know? Could it be that if we haven't had antibiotics or anything? I'll give the APNO a try tomorrow...

LOL, don't freak out yet - yeast diaper rashes are very common and typically pretty easily resolved if it is that.

If it's not a yeast rash, I have found that lanolin works great for treating/preventing diaper rashes. Just smear on red area on their tush & it's gone almost instantly!

TIA!

Can't tell that we've had to treat for thrush before huh? :)

The APNO seems to have really helped. She's looking much better now. Think I may try plain lotramin though so I don't use up my APNO stash.

Back to square one. :(
DD's rash seemed to get better there for several days but it has flaired up again. DH said she cried hard when he changed her diaper last night- specifically as he was wiping her- he said the rash was the worst he'd seen it. APNO hasn't helped, aquaphor hasn't, A&D hasn't... I'm thinking I should call the doc.

It seems like she got it when she was eating avacados and it got better during the sweet potato week, but she had avacado again the last three days and now it's bad again. Is that a fluke or could it be a sign of an allergy? DH has some food allergies...

She also has some little eczema spots on her legs. They don't seem to bother her though.

Definitely stop the avocado and see if the rash gets better.
