My baby has frequent green stools. I know it is sometime normal in EBF babies but is it normal if half of her stools are green in color? If not, what would this be? Thanks.

Is there any chance you're dealing with oversupply and/or overactive letdown? That can lead to green stools sometimes.

Green stools can in some cases be normal.

If all else is ok with your baby it's likely not a problem. It can be normal. Is there any other concern going on? Is your baby exclusively breastfeeding, taking vitamins or anything else? Don't forget to get the doctor involved if you think there is a concern

Thanks for all your replies and advice. Her stools are green and mucousy and now she has this about 90% of the time. She is having very loose stools as well that look like diarrhea. It could have gotten worse because she may be teething but they have been 50% green for over a month now and maybe longer. I just starting giving her very tiny amounts of food but not very much. I guess I will mention it to her doctor. She has an appointment on Sept 2 so it won't be too long till she gets in to see him. Thanks for being so helpful.

Good luck with the appointment tomorrow. My little guy had green poop for a while. His was kinda army green. Still not sure what caused it, but it resolved itself. My public health nurse said to ensure he gets the hindmilk that I could pump off a bit of foremilk before nursing him and see if that resolves it, but then his poop started looking normal so I didn't have to try that.
