Okay, I'm not sure if this is really what I want to do, or if my DD is even ready for it, but many signs point to the fact that she's ready, but her lack of solid/fluid intake other than BM has me worried.
I used to be able to nurse her to sleep for naps, and that doesn't happen anymore - so I need a new nap trick.
She's much more active during the day, so I've tried pulling her away, going someplace quiet and nursing and that only lasts a few minutes. She writhes around, twists and turns, sits up, smiles and does the "all done" sign.
The only time she really seems to want to nurse is right before bed and in the middle of the night and early morning when we co sleep (she starts the night off in her crib).
But, with a daily solid schedule of 3 mini cubes of fruit, 1 slice of cheese, 1 egg yolk, 1 oz cow's milk, I can't see her not having BM as her main source of nutrition.
I think I am ready to just have to do nighttime nursings and I do think she'd go along with this without any fuss!! Of course if she wasn't ready, I would still nurse her during the day.
I guess I'm wondering what would be the best way to approach this. Should I just try one day to see if I can go from nursing in the morning to nursing before bed with no nursing in between? Maybe she'll be more interested in solids? I don't want her to get dehydrated or anything.
Please help if you can.
Thanks so much.
