My (almost) 8 month old loves nursing, but she also loves being a part of things...so being held in a cradle position just isnt working for us. i know that by now she can nurse however she wants...but how does she want to?? She isnt old enough to tell me what she wants and i just dont know. i sit her up and let her nurse sitting facing me but she constantly gets off and looks around, realizes nothing is going on then nurses for another 10 seconds. I need some new ideas!! One thing that does work is laying down, we co sleep and she nurses throughout the night and in the morning, and it really keeps her focused...but i would rather not lay down to feed her every time.

Any ideas? I have tried the football hold just for something different and it works sometimes.

Oh, you are describing the typical distracted nurser. It's very common at this age and isn't really related to position. "It's just that there are so many other interesting things to do besides look at your chest while I eat Mommy!".

You can opt to try to breastfeed in a more quiet environment...this is why night nursing and side lying work for some. Or
