poop & teeth questions -- unrelated :)

Hi-

Just curious on 2 things -- Hoped I could get some opinions!

My DS is 14 mos old. He nurses occasionally -- definitely at night -- and during the day when I can (I work) and he wants.

First, I still nurse to sleep. i do give him some cow's milk before bed (helps him sleep a little longer) but I always brush his teeth before nursing. At his 14mo c/u the ped said I need to start brushing his teeth after nursing soon. I was surprised because she is very BF-friendly -- and knows i still frequently night nurse. There is no way I am getting up to brush his teeth in the 5 or so times he wakes up to night nurse either! I don;t plan to night wean until at least 18 mos, if at all! Just curious what everyone else thought. I read the stuff on kellymom so I am not really worried -- just curious what you experts think.

Secondly, and unrelated to the first question!, his poops lately have been really grainy -- almost like sand from the beach. They are a pain to clean up! Couldn'd find anything on kellymom, so I googled it. (Bad idea)... I saw a few things that link grainy poop to autism. I am not really that concerned because he shows no other signs. I figured it was something he ate or something -- but can;t think of anything new/different he has eaten lately. Anyone have any idea what this could be, and if I should be concerned.

If anyone has any insight, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks:)

NAK

I did not brush teeth after nursing at bedtime or during the night for DS#1 or DS#2 (DS#2 is 3.5 years and still BF before bed after he brushes his teeth).
