Anyone else having issues with their nursing toddler coming over to you and demanding to nurse by either pulling at your shirt, or sticking their hand up or down your shirt?

Hayzen does this a lot! My friends think it's funny and say "oh must be bedtime, he's digging for the goods!"

Anyone successful in stopping this behaviour? I'm sure my friends would appreciate not being flashed anymore, lol

Hayzen is definitely old enough to get a primer on some nursing manners. Because you're nursing a toddler doesn't mean that he can't have some boundaries on when, where and how to request to nurse. Here's a good link on this: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/older-baby/nursing-manners.html.

Good luck!

I agree with Dana, it is not to early to teach some nursing manners. It may take some time and not happen right away, but it can be done.

Do you have a nursing word? We used "Nur Nur", but whatever works for you. Some moms even use signs. I found that a word was helpful so that he could express himself.

Milky CAN be the code word if you like. PHillip picked up Nur nur and started saying it - we thought he was saying no no at first. lol! So that is what we used and probably we will encourage that word with GRaham.

when he pulls at your shirt say Do you want Milky? Can you say Milky Please? you can also ask him not to pull at your shirt. It won;t happen overnight , but.......:)
