teeth and latch?

I'm a little embarrassed to be posting a question after 10 months of successful BFing, but things change constantly!

DS is getting in 4 top teeth right now - poor little guy! He just started lunging very enthusiastically and painfully for the breast, and the initial latch is like a vise grip. I think I need a way to slow him down and take the time to latch without hurting me, and I need to do it now before these teeth get here! Any ideas?

No need to be embarrassed - this particular question comes up more often than you might think :)

Thanks for the advice! I think we had become a little lazy in the proper nursing mechanics because everything was working well. Last night I re-started "Ooooooopen" and I think he actually remembered it because it went very well. I am also going to be very careful about positioning like the article said and that should make it easier for both of us.

Glad to know that I'm not alone in this :)
