Baby and I have thrush, we have been treating baby with Nystatin and it hasn't gone away yet, so I got some gentian violet to try. I have also been using nystatin cream, so I will use the APNO, & the gentian violet. Anyway, my question is should I continue the oral Nystatin for the baby? or just use the gentian violet? I am hoping this helps because nursing is extremely painful right now on my right side. and to top it off, I am pretty sure I have a vaginal yeast infection as well. I don't know if it's related to the thrush or not, but I am ready for it to be gone. Argh!! Any suggestions?

Also, if I use probiotics, how much do I use for me and for baby? I have probiotics with bifidobacteria. Will that work?
thanks

Hi there-

((HUGS)) to you! Hw often were you told to apply/gve the Nystatin? If the Nystatin hasn't worked, I'd talk to your doc/LC about a script for Diflucan> http://www.kellymom.com/newman/20fluconazole.html

Here is info onprobiotics: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/thrush/preventing-thrush.html

Please follow up and we'll go rom there, okay?

Ask for Diflucan, it's the best. Also, if your baby has a rash, I would also use the Nystantin cream on his little bottom, it will help to get rid of it.
