Rebecca, am just "ditto-ing" what Theresa said and reiterating that if at all possible we encourage taking weaning slowly - it's less hard on you and less hard on the baby too.

So I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer last Wednesday and the treatment consists of a surgery ( not a big problem for BF) and a radiation treatment. I checked Kellymom for the specific radiation treatment I will receive

Have you checked with the drs to see if there is an alternative to that specific radiation treatment? Which one is it? I'd like to check with Hale to see what alternatives are, if there are any.

I've been told the radiation binds to liquids in the body though and they want your breasts to be as dried out as possible before the treatment, which I'll likely be receiving in about 8-10 weeks. So I'm concerned when I hear it can take 6 months to dry up!

Well, there *are* things we can do to try and speed up the process.

Thanks for the links Paula, those really helped alot.

One thing I'm concerned about, I've been dealing with mild Post Partum depression, and I'm worried it will get worse from weaning. Any ideas to limit the depression that may accompany weaning?

Hi Rebecca, I was just lurking on the board today (my usual boards are slow) and wanted to reach out and give you some (((((((hugs)))))))).

It must be very scary to receive a diagnosis of cancer, even if there's a good treatment plan in place.

Spencer already gave you some good ideas/suggestions - I was just going to add that if you can use some of these tips, it may help minimize any depression you feel:

((HUGS)) to you, Rebecca! I can't add anything to the great info you've gotten from Paula and Spencer, but I wanted to tell you that we're here if you need us for anything.
